The Order Management team at Capital Group were in an unenviable position. They were stuck using 20 year old software. Their internal software team was satisfied with how’d they’d been building applications for years – decide on requirements, build them, ship it. The users were left feeling unheard and were forced to do their work around the system rather than through it. The software we designed came from building a deep empathy with the order management team through extensive interviews, observations, and demos. This resulted in a series of personas and journey maps that were used to guide the creation of a high-resolution, clickable prototype that enabled the OM team while meeting business needs. The result? Enthusiastic users who couldn’t wait to use the new application – a far cry from previous rollouts.
